Statins Could Treat Breast Cancer In The Future?

By

Ok, now I’m angry. Pass me my laser quickly! Statins side effects just seem to be constantly be ignored.

How is it that the holistic health industry is constantly gagged and stopped from saying that it can help people get better because there aren’t enough clinical studies to support the amazing work that is being done?…………..

Then the papers are allowed to report headlines like these:

  • Statins could treat breast cancer in future
  • Statins: A miracle drug that could prevent and reverse disease
  • Statins linked to lower risk of prostate cancer death
  • Statins may improve survival rate for aneurysm

Are there any clinical trials to back these statements up you might ask?

Well we will come to that in a mo.

What I want to know is why the media only wants to promote the allegedly positive side effects of taking statins. Are they getting paid to advertise by pharmaceutical companies? I wonder.

Some of the headlines you might not have seen are:

  • Statins linked to lung damage in smokers
  • Statin use in postmenopausal women increases diabetes risk
  • Statins can trigger temporary memory loss (transient global amnesia)
  • Statins cause musculoskeletal pain in those without arthritis

Why were these not reported in the media?

Linking statins as a potential cure for breast cancer makes great headlines and is sure to get the attention of most women. However back to those trials. The media omitted to mention the fact that this particular study was not conducted on animals or humans (not that I would want them to be!).

The study was carried out in Columbia University where they grew cells generated from breast cancer tumours in a laboratory. They then treated the cancer cells with simvastatin which is a common statin. The growth of the cancer cells was reduced but more evidence would be needed to state that statins could treat breast cancer. Exactly!

My problem is that statins side effects are horrible. They consist of cataracts, muscle pain, fatigue, kidney failure, depression, liver dysfunction, Alzeimers and mental confusion as well as many more. These would be hard enough for a healthy person to cope with. Why would we want to burden someone who has cancer with with these side effects?

While we are on the subject of cancer, Dr Gonzalez has come highly recommended to me. He uses diet and supplements to effectively treat cancer. His site is: http://www.dr-gonzalez.com  He is based in New York but do you know what, I think I would probably travel to see him if I was diagnosed with cancer. I believe in an integrative approach to my health so I would take advice from my doctor, as well as from holistic practitioners and use some of the techniques I already know.

If you are interested in finding out more about the negative effects of taking statins, take a look at www.thecholesterollie.com and www.thecholesteroltruth.com They make for interesting reading. Please always consult your doctor though before taking any course of action.

Statins side effects as well as the side effects of many drugs needs to be highlighted more.

If you have any questions or need any help please just ask away in the comments box below. I answer all of the comments personally.

Let’s start building this community of like minded people who are seeking a more holistic approach to their health and well being!

With love and light,
